About the role#
This is a part-time internship with the Florida Department of Transportation District 5 office. You will work 10 hours per week during the Fall 2026 semester, from August through December. This role is paid at $15.00 per hour and requires on-site attendance in DeLand, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Create project-specific collateral materials.
- Participate in media training.
- Coordinate and attend public meetings, hearings, and special events.
- Develop Community Awareness Plans.
- Write and format content for the District Newsletter.
- Perform website audits and updates.
- Apply knowledge of communications principles and relevant regulations to your daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- You should have a basic understanding of communications principles.
- Proficiency with a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Strong organizational, time management, and task prioritization skills.
- Preference is given to college students at the junior, senior, or graduate level.
