About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience in the transportation industry. You will work under direct supervision to complete routine tasks across various work units. You will also participate in team projects and contribute to agency goals. The role is part-time, working 10 hours per week at $15.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
You will gain knowledge and perform technical tasks within a selected focus track. Options include:
- Engineering: Explores professional engineering roles in areas like roadway design, traffic operations, and construction management.
- Transportation: Focuses on how the agency provides a safe and efficient transportation system.
- Business: Covers the administrative side of the agency, such as procurement, human resources, and financial services.
- Self-Designed: Allows you to choose one to three focus areas based on your specific interests or university requirements.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States and provide supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Proficiency with a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to understand and apply agency rules, policies, and procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with others and maintain professional relationships.
- Commitment to complying with all department policies, regulations, and the Code of Ethics.

- This position is based on-site in DeLand, Florida.
- This is a part-time, paid internship.
