About the role#
The Florida Department of Transportation offers a part-time internship for students interested in transportation, construction, maintenance, and public administration. This role provides an opportunity to shadow subject matter experts and gain hands-on experience within District Four operations. You will work 20 hours per week while gaining exposure to the professional side of agency operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with various tasks across multiple departments.
- Engage in research and provide insights to support agency initiatives.
- Interact with executive leadership, project managers, team leaders, and external partners.
- Participate in team projects and contribute to agency goals.
- Review and perform technical tasks within a selected focus track, such as Engineering, Transportation, or a self-designed area.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Actively enrolled in or accepted to an accredited university, college, or vocational/technical school.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple work assignments effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
Location & details#
- Location: Fort Pierce, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.25 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawfully authorized alien workers. Visa sponsorship is not available.
