About the role#
As a Water/Wastewater Student Intern, you will join a team focused on local and national water infrastructure projects. Your work will span site development, water and wastewater plants, pump stations, and sewer collection systems. This is a full-time, paid contract position running from May 2027 to October 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide onsite contract administration and monitor construction progress.
- Maintain and operate survey equipment as part of a field crew.
- Perform survey tasks including level work, staking, roding, and recording field notes.
- Collect as-built information for record drawings and report on construction deficiencies.
- Obtain project site samples and interpret testing results.
- Assist technical staff by researching, compiling, and evaluating project data.
- Prepare reports and perform calculations for water, wastewater, and sewer design projects.
- Perform computer data entry and assist with CAD and design tasks.
- Complete other engineering or administrative duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or diploma program in civil engineering, water resources, construction management, geomatics, or environmental engineering.
- Successful completion of at least one year of coursework in Civil Technology, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow direction.
- A valid driver's license and your own vehicle.
- Physical ability to work on construction sites in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of provincial and municipal regulations and policies is an asset.
