About the role#
We are looking for a Water Co-op Student to join our team in Ottawa for a 4-8 month term starting in January 2027. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to gain hands-on experience in municipal infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and designers with both field and office assignments.
- Conduct research and write reports.
- Work on conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for municipal infrastructure, including water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, sewers, watermains, and roads.
- Perform surveying and field inspections.
- Manage data processing and modeling tasks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and take direction.
- Coursework or exposure to water/wastewater infrastructure planning, design, and construction.
- Coursework or exposure to construction management, environmental treatment processes, or advanced technologies.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations, policies, and programs is an asset.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Ottawa, Ontario.
- The position requires working at a desk for long periods in an office environment.
- Field work may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
