About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineering student for a full-time Transportation Engineering Co-op or Intern position in Portland, Maine for the Summer 2027 term. This role focuses on the planning and design of transportation infrastructure, including roadways, bridges, and airports. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to support project teams and gain insight into the project development process.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and compile studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets, graphs, drawings, and calculations to support transportation projects.
- Assist project managers with tasks to learn internal project management processes.
- Perform fieldwork, including construction inspection and data gathering.
- Participate in the broader Stantec internship program, which includes workshops, speaker series, and networking with other interns and company leaders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in both office and virtual settings.
- Organizational and time management skills, with a focus on being punctual, reliable, and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Willingness to perform fieldwork as needed.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, ArcGIS, or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
