About the role#
Stantec is seeking an intern for the Fuel System Engineering group for the Summer 2027 term. This position offers a mix of office-based design work and field-based construction observation. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to support infrastructure projects, including potential tasks within environmental and civil engineering groups. The role typically concludes by the end of August or the start of the fall academic semester.
What you'll do#
- Use AutoCAD and REVIT for site design and component modeling for fuel systems.
- Perform drawing reviews and update designs based on markups.
- Assist with the supervised design of energy and fuel systems, including tanks, piping, and hardware.
- Handle correspondence with permit authorities and manufacturers.
- Conduct code and regulatory reviews, including reporting.
- Manage printing and assembly for drawings and reports.
- Perform site inspections and construction observation, which may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Maintain regular communication with your mentor and team leads while following safety and security protocols.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university or college.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Required experience with AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Strong technical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as a self-starter who identifies and executes daily tasks.
- Strong collaboration skills and a focus on team success.
- High attention to detail, work ethic, and integrity.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- Available locations: Portland, Maine; Auburn, New Hampshire; or Overland Park, Kansas.
- Regional travel or day trips to other offices may be required.
