About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work independently on smaller projects and join team efforts on larger ones under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. This role offers hands-on experience with steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems. You will assist our engineering team in delivering projects that prioritize safety, performance, and sustainability.
What you'll do#
- Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for various building systems.
- Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and project materials.
- Use Revit to perform design work for the structural discipline.
- Coordinate with architectural, interior, and other engineering teams.
- Perform field work as directed by senior staff.
- Run basic calculations to analyze and design individual building components.
- Assist with data collection and information gathering to support design decisions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Completion of junior level coursework, including design courses in steel and concrete.
- Understanding of structural engineering concepts and the ability to think critically.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Revit as a drafting and design tool.
- Knowledge of component design software like Enercalc.
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software such as RISA and SAP.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and building programs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting.
