About the role#
Stantec is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will support infrastructure design projects, including bridges, retaining walls, and overhead signs. This role provides hands-on experience working with our structural team to solve complex engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers in preparing contract documents and project reports.
- Perform computer aided design and drafting tasks.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and simple structural calculations.
- Check drawings and calculations for accuracy.
- Participate in field inspections, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program for Civil Engineering.
- Good academic standing in an accredited engineering school.
- Prior exposure to CAD design programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Effective communication skills for verbal, written, and electronic interactions.
- Experience with OpenBridge is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The position is on-site in either New Haven, CT, or Hartford, CT.
- Work occurs primarily in an office setting with occasional field work.
