About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work on building projects alongside experienced practitioners. You will handle smaller projects independently and contribute to larger team efforts under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer. This role provides hands-on experience in structural analysis and design while working with architectural and interior disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems.
- Use Revit to create structural designs.
- Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and building programs.
- Perform basic calculations to analyze individual building components using company standard and proprietary software.
- Assist with data collection and information gathering to support design decisions.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on project coordination.
- Complete field work as directed by senior staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering, with at least junior-level coursework completed.
- Completed design courses in steel and concrete.
- A thorough understanding of structural engineering concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Revit.
- Familiarity with component design software like Enercalc and finite element analysis software such as RISA and SAP.
- Ability to interpret sketches and technical drawings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
