About the role#
Stantec is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, on-site position is based in Austin, Texas. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support the design of various building projects.
What you'll do#
- Interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and other technical documents.
- Develop three dimensional models of structures and components using BIM technologies.
- Analyze and design individual building structural systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and technical staff to prepare design documents, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, and calculations.
- Create electronic data files and convert redlines into document-ready work.
- Publish and manage design document sets while maintaining drawing revisions.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in architectural, civil, or structural engineering. Completion of your junior year is preferred.
- Two years of related project or internship experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic calculations and apply engineering concepts.
- Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with floor plans, details, and shop drawings for various building materials.
- Basic experience with modeling software such as Autodesk Revit is preferred.
- Basic experience with design software like Tekla Structural Designer, RAM Structural System, RISA 3D, or Enercalc is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
