About the role#
This summer internship offers a position within our Transportation Group. You will work in a team environment on roadway and traffic engineering projects. Your work will support active South Carolina DOT, County, and City transportation initiatives. You will gain exposure to roadway design, grading, stormwater modeling, and traffic control design. The role is based on-site and is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Gather project data.
- Prepare and assemble reports and drawings.
- Perform routine calculations.
- Assist with MicroStation drafting and design.
- Prepare construction documents.
- Observe and attend meetings with the design team and project stakeholders.
- Complete other related tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You are currently working toward a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You can multi-task, prioritize your work, and take direction.
- You are capable of working independently.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Familiarity with MicroStation is an asset.

- This role is located in North Charleston, Charleston, or Columbia, South Carolina.
- This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- The work involves a typical office environment with some potential for field work involving exposure to the elements.
