About the role#
As a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team on various water infrastructure projects. These projects include dams, levees, pump stations, water and wastewater piping, treatment facilities, and stormwater infrastructure. You will support our work for local municipalities, state agencies, power utilities, and industrial clients.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project administration, including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, and tracking project costs.
- Support technical staff by researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, and performing design calculations.
- Perform modeling and design activities for water infrastructure.
- Gain experience using CAD, GIS, and other design software.
- Conduct construction observations and assist with field work as needed.
- Complete additional engineering and administrative duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be currently working toward a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and follow direction.
- A willingness to learn.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
- You will work in an office environment with some potential for field work, which may include exposure to inclement weather.
