About the role#
As a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Intern, you will work in a team environment on water infrastructure projects. These may include dams, levees, pump stations, treatment facilities, and stormwater infrastructure. This role provides exposure to local and national projects for clients such as municipalities, power utilities, and government agencies. You will spend time in an office environment and may assist with field work as needed.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning and coordinating geotechnical explorations.
- Perform modeling and design activities for water infrastructure projects.
- Assist engineers with reviewing boring logs and laboratory data.
- Execute geotechnical analysis and evaluate hazards related to design and construction.
- Perform construction observations and assist with geotechnical field work.
- Gain experience using CAD and other design software.
- Support project administration by drafting reports, proposals, and correspondence.
- Research, compile, and evaluate project data.
- Track project costs and complete progress reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and take direction.
- A willingness to learn.
