About the role#
Stantec is hiring civil engineering interns for Summer 2027 to join our Community Development Group. You will work in a team environment on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This includes tasks related to urban design, erosion control, stormwater management, and water conveyance. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills by completing civil design tasks.
- Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.
- Assist with CAD drafting and the preparation of construction documents.
- Attend internal design team meetings and client meetings.
- Procure permits and approvals from various agencies.
- Communicate with construction staff, engineers, clients, and project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and follow direction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a vehicle or other reliable transportation for office and site visits.
- Coursework or exposure to hydrologic design, environmental engineering, transportation, soil mechanics, surveying, or construction management is preferred.
