About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern specializing in water, you will join a team focused on municipal infrastructure projects. This role involves working on tasks related to water and wastewater piping, pump stations, treatment facilities, and stormwater infrastructure. You will also participate in design and analysis work, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stream restoration, and regional water planning. This is a full-time, paid opportunity for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support project administration by writing reports, drafting proposals and correspondence, tracking costs, and completing progress reports.
- Assist technical staff with data research, compilation, and evaluation.
- Perform calculations for design projects.
- Gain experience with software such as CAD, Revit, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and InfoWorks ICM.
- Conduct construction observations and assist with field work when necessary.
- Complete other engineering and administrative tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of or exposure to coursework in infrastructure planning, design, construction management, environmental engineering, or hydraulics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and follow direction.
- A willingness to learn and grow within a team environment.
