About the role#
As a Policy Team Intern, you will join the Content Department at Ballotpedia. You will work directly with staff writers and researchers to support public policy coverage. The role includes an onboarding process similar to that of full-time employees, where you will learn about the organization's style guide, website coding, and methods for detecting bias in resources.
What you'll do#
- Research and write about various policy topics, including reform proposals, legislation, regulations, case law, and state surveys.
- Assist teams with news tracking, legislation tracking, and primary source monitoring.
- Conduct detailed research projects.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and planning meetings with staff.
- Help with metrics and reporting on data collection.
What you'll need#
- Status as an undergraduate, graduate, or law student, or a recent graduate.
- Authorization to work in the United States and current residency within the country.
- A well-functioning computer with reliable Internet access.
- Familiarity with Google Applications.
- A résumé and a cover letter that includes your current address and contact information for two professional references.
- A neutral writing sample of under five pages.

- This is a remote internship for the Winter 2027 term.
- The position is paid and open to students across various majors, including Political Science, Economics, and History.
