About the role#
This Legislative Intern position is part of the Koch Internship Program. You will work with Citizens Against Government Waste to support their policy staff. The role provides a look at how Washington operates through daily work with Capitol Hill, the White House, and various government agencies. You will handle substantive projects while working both independently and alongside staff members.
What you'll do#
- Assist policy staff with the legislative process.
- Monitor hearings and summarize testimony and votes from committee meetings.
- Track legislation, regulations, and political activities related to government waste.
- Research and write legislative summaries.
- Attend coalition meetings with other organizations.
- Participate in staff meetings and events.
- Perform occasional clerical duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or law student, or status as a recent graduate.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the program.
- An interest in policy and government waste issues.
