About the role#
The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is hiring a policy intern to work with the director of policy. You will research and write policy papers, commentaries, and articles. You may also discuss this research with local and national media, community groups, and lawmakers.
What you'll do#
- Conduct general or detailed research.
- Assist staff with various tasks, projects, and events.
- Revise or update research as requested by editorial staff.
- Represent the institute at state and national conferences when needed.
- Participate in staff calls and leadership team meetings.
- Maintain clear communication and work well with other departments.
- Maintain regular attendance and arrive on time.
What you'll need#
- Alignment with the vision and mission of the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii.
- The ability to write accurate, well-structured, and readable prose.
- An ability to connect with community members who can assist with research.
- The ability to reliably commute to the main office in downtown Honolulu.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- While the role is open to remote work, on-site work is preferred.
- The internship takes place during the Winter 2027 term.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
