About the role#
The Illinois Policy Institute is looking for a development intern to support fundraising and external relations. You will work with the development team on donor research, event planning, and CRM maintenance. This role is a fit for those interested in nonprofit leadership, public policy, and relationship-driven work.
What you'll do#
- Research donors and prospects to help gift officers with their strategy.
- Prepare materials for donor meetings and handle follow-up communications.
- Manage data entry, gift acknowledgments, and CRM maintenance.
- Coordinate roundtables, donor briefings, and fundraising events.
- Draft and edit reports and impact updates for donors.
- Join team meetings and help with development strategy projects.
- Assist the External Relations team with daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Professionalism, discretion, and a focus on high-quality work.
- Interest in business, nonprofit development, communications, or public policy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Salesforce.
- A self-starter mindset and willingness to learn.
