About the role#
The Respiratory Therapist Internship at St. Luke's University Health Network provides students with hands-on clinical experience while they complete their respiratory therapy education. Interns work alongside experienced respiratory therapists in a supportive environment, gaining exposure to clinical operations and patient care support.
What you'll do#
- Change, clean, disinfect, and restock respiratory equipment in hospital areas and emergency kits.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and oxygen/gas cylinders, ordering or restocking as necessary.
- Assist in Interventional Pulmonary procedures, including equipment setup, handling instruments, preparing and transporting specimens, and equipment reprocessing.
- Set up ventilators in the department and perform pre-operative checks.
- Work with the Bio-med team to facilitate equipment repairs.
- Adhere to strict infection control guidelines regarding equipment maintenance.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy Program is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new software systems.
- Prior hospital experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling equipment up to 150 pounds.

- Locations: Multiple campuses across Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Quakertown, Sellersville, Stroudsburg, PA, and Phillipsburg, NJ.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible, up to 30 hours per week based on department needs.
- Status: Paid internship with rolling start dates.
