About the role#
The Respiratory Therapist Internship at St. Luke's University Health Network provides students with hands-on clinical experience while completing their respiratory therapy education. This paid role allows interns to work alongside experienced respiratory therapists in a supportive environment. Interns may work up to 30 hours per week, with scheduling based on individual availability and department needs.
What you'll do#
- Change, clean, disinfect, and restock respiratory equipment in hospital areas and emergency kits.
- Monitor inventory of supplies, oxygen, and gas cylinders, and place orders as necessary.
- Assist in Interventional Pulmonary procedures, including equipment setup, handling instruments, and preparing and transporting specimens.
- Perform pre-operative checks and set up ventilators.
- Collaborate with Bio-med to repair equipment and adhere to infection control guidelines.
- Update respiratory leadership on supply and equipment needs.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy Program is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
- Prior hospital experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling equipment up to 150 pounds.

- Locations: Opportunities are available across multiple campuses in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Quakertown, Sellersville, and Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, as well as Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
