About the role#
St. Luke's University Health Network is offering a full-time, night-shift NICU Internship for the Fall 2026 cohort. This competency-based program is designed to bridge the transition from student or novice nurse to an advanced beginner. Interns will participate in a progressive curriculum including seminars, workshops, simulation, and clinical observations, supported by a dedicated education team and clinical preceptors.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care for high-risk neonates and infants by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Work cooperatively with nursing staff, ancillary personnel, and the broader patient-care team to maintain professional practice standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and network materials and ensure proper release of information.
- Demonstrate competency in age-appropriate assessment, treatment, and communication.
- Model service excellence standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
What you'll need#
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania, or nursing students with a prospective graduation date who will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the start of the internship.
- Experience working in a NICU or a completed/scheduled Senior Practicum in a NICU.
- Experienced RNs who have not previously worked in a NICU setting are also eligible.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to successfully complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of hire.
- Physical ability to perform duties including standing for up to 8 hours, lifting or pushing up to 75 pounds, and transporting patients weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance.
