About the role#
The St. Luke's University Health Network Emergency Department Internship is a full-time, competency-based program designed to support the transition from novice to advanced beginner. The program includes a progressive arrangement of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, simulations, and clinical observations. Participants work with a dedicated education team and clinical preceptors to cultivate leadership, team building, and conflict management skills. Upon successful completion, interns will work in a St. Luke's Emergency Department, providing care to patients across their lifespans.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care through the nursing process, including assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and documenting the effects of care.
- Work cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain professional practice standards.
- Demonstrate and model the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all materials and ensure the proper release of information.
- Comply with all departmental and Network policies regarding attendance and dress code.
- Demonstrate competency in patient assessment, treatment, and communication appropriate to the age of the patient.
What you'll need#
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Pennsylvania or New Jersey (for the Warren campus).
- Current BLS certification.
- For nursing students: Prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation dates with eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the start of the internship.
- For nursing students: Experience working in an Emergency Department, prehospital care, or current completion of a Senior Practicum in an Emergency Department.
- For experienced RNs: Must be an RN who has not previously worked in an Emergency Department setting.
