    About the role#

    St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care Nurse Internship. This competency-based program is designed to bridge the gap between nursing education and professional practice. Participants engage in a progressive arrangement of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, and simulation. The program supports the transition from novice to advanced beginner through clinical preceptorships, while cultivating leadership, team building, and conflict management skills.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
    • Formulate collaborative, individualized plans of care and identify expected patient outcomes using the nursing process.
    • Prioritize patient care by utilizing available resources cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other team personnel.
    • Function as a professional role model and resource person providing guidance to co-workers.
    • Demonstrate the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all interactions.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all materials and ensure the proper release of information.

    What you'll need#

    • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
    • A current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey (for the Warren campus), or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
    • Eligibility for nursing students with prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation dates to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the internship start date.
    • Eligibility for experienced RNs who have not worked in an acute care setting or have less than one year of acute care experience.
    • Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours per day, lifting or pushing objects up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.

    Location & details#

    • Modality: On-site.
    • Locations: Opportunities are available across multiple campuses in Allentown, Bethlehem, Coaldale, Easton, Lehighton, Orwigsburg, Quakertown, Sellersville, and Stroudsburg.
    • Schedule: Full-time (36 or 40 hours per week) with holiday and weekend requirements based on unit and company policies.
