Graduate Nurse, Acute Care (Med Surg) Internship, Opportunities at Multiple Campuses (Full Time)

About the role#

St. Luke's University Health Network offers a full-time, paid Acute Care (Med Surg) Internship designed to bridge the transition from nursing student to professional practitioner. This competency-based program supports the development of novice nurses through a combination of seminars, workshops, supervised hands-on training, and clinical simulation. Interns work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide advanced care for patients with diverse acute conditions and complexities.

What you'll do#

• Perform in-depth, systematic assessments of all assigned patients.
• Formulate collaborative, individualized plans of care and identify expected patient outcomes using the nursing process.
• Prioritize patient care while utilizing available resources in cooperation with ancillary and nursing personnel.
• Act as a professional role model and provide guidance to co-workers.
• Demonstrate the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in all customer interactions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all materials and manage the proper release of information.

What you'll need#

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, or a Temporary Practice Permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• For current students: prospective Spring, Summer, or Winter graduation dates with eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and obtain licensure before the start of the internship.
• For experienced RNs: less than one year of experience or no prior work history in an acute care setting.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours, lifting up to 75 lbs, and transporting patients weighing up to 500 lbs.

Location & details#

• Modality: On-site.
• Availability: Full-time (36 or 40 hours per week) with holiday and weekend requirements per unit policy.
• Locations: Openings are available across multiple campuses, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Quakertown, Sellersville, Stroudsburg, Lehighton, Coaldale, and Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania.
