This Co-Op position provides hands-on experience in the service and maintenance of clinical equipment used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Working under the guidance of experienced clinical engineering staff, you will ensure that medical instrumentation remains safe, reliable, and effective for patient care while earning academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Perform preventative maintenance, performance verifications, electrical safety inspections, repairs, and installations on complex biomedical equipment.
- Conduct daily rounds throughout the hospital to identify and address broken equipment.
- Document all service events, maintenance activities, and repairs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Maintain service manuals in accordance with the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
- Communicate equipment updates to clinical staff and ensure compliance with organizational policies, operational standards, and relevant regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited academic degree program in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering Technology.
- Proficiency in electronic troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong computer skills.
