Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

The Pharmacy Intern role is a training position designed for students currently enrolled in a PharmD program, specifically those in the classes of 2028, 2029, and 2030. Interns work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to gain practical experience, assist in medication preparation, and support pharmacy operations.

What you'll do#

• Provide customer service by greeting patients, answering inquiries, and managing prescription status updates.
• Maintain electronic records for patient profiles, insurance billing, and prescription history.
• Perform all duties of a pharmacy technician, including processing insurance claims and resolving rejections.
• Assemble, prepare, and compound medications for both inpatient and outpatient use, including IV medications.
• Assist with inventory control, such as ordering, stocking shelves, and conducting quarterly inspections for outdated medications.
• Counsel patients, physicians, and nurses on drug information, dosage, and pharmacological actions under pharmacist supervision.
• Handle controlled substances in accordance with security and accountability protocols.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a PharmD program.
• High School diploma, GED, or 10 years of work experience.
• No prior experience is required.
• Ability to hear alarms and identify malfunctioning machinery.
• Physical ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
