About the role#
Join the SPX Technologies engineering team for a Summer 2027 internship. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting product development, testing, and design initiatives. This role is designed for students interested in real-world engineering challenges and collaborating with experienced professionals on manufacturing solutions.
What you'll do#
- Assist in product development projects, including design analysis and prototype support.
- Contribute to product improvement initiatives like technical feasibility studies and design layouts.
- Create and modify engineering drawings and models using CAD software.
- Support component and product testing, document results, and recommend design adjustments.
- Help assemble engineering standards to prepare for automation and process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers to update design programs, templates, and technical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Design/Drafting Technology.
- Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to hand-sketch 2-D and 3-D objects.
- Knowledge of fundamental structural engineering concepts and practices.
- High level of creativity and an ability to visualize complex spatial geometry.
- Passion for productivity improvement and design enhancement.
- Programming experience is preferred.

- Location: Overland Park, Kansas.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Status: Full-time and paid.
- Physical requirements: Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, keyboarding, and reading from screens or paper. The role may require working outside normal hours.
