About the role#
Southwest Behavioral & Health Services offers unpaid internships for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. These roles provide hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment under the supervision of licensed professionals. Internships are available during the spring, summer, and fall terms, with flexible placement hours to accommodate your academic schedule. This is an on-site program designed for students whose degree requires an internship for academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Support crisis intervention efforts.
- Assist in therapy and skill groups.
- Document service delivery and help with assessments and treatment plan paperwork.
- Provide case management support.
- Collaborate with the clinical team on daily operations.
- Engage in tasks related to your educational plan.
- Participate in Counseling Services (for graduate students only).
- Perform all activities under the direct supervision of SBH staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, with the internship required by your degree program for credit.
- Ability to manage your academic responsibilities independently.
- Willingness to follow direction from your SBH supervisor and attend required training sessions.
- Compliance with SBH work schedules, policies, and professional conduct standards.
- Minimum age of 18 (some roles require age 21).
- Successful completion of a drug test.
- Possession of a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or eligibility to receive one upon hire.
- Ability to meet physical and TB testing requirements for specific placements.
Location & details#
Internships are available across multiple Arizona locations, including Phoenix, Mesa, Buckeye, Flagstaff, Payson, Prescott Valley, Bullhead City, Kingman, and Lake Havasu. Placements are on-site and offered on a rolling basis.
