About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support strategic initiatives and collaborate across teams at Southwest Airlines. You will work on projects from start to finish and assist the Projects Team with various departmental initiatives. The program concludes with a capstone presentation delivered to department leaders and key stakeholders.
What you'll do#
- Support the Frontline Employee Advisory Board by developing meeting content and synthesizing feedback.
- Assist with implementing strategic initiatives, including requirements gathering and training support.
- Facilitate interactions between frontline representatives and senior leadership.
- Conduct research on technology solutions, manage vendor relationships, and build business cases.
- Develop hypotheses and apply creative problem-solving to project life cycles.
- Gather and connect data to create actionable insights and recommendations.
- Communicate with stakeholders and project teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Build communication plans and deliver presentations to share project results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a degree program such as Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related fields.
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age and a valid U.S. Social Security Number.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with good judgment.
- Preferred: Experience with Excel, Outlook, and Access.
- Preferred: Knowledge of 5S or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Preferred: Previous leadership experience and an interest in aviation.
Location & details#
- Location: Dallas, Texas at the corporate campus.
- Term: Summer 2027, from May 18 to August 8, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Compensation: $21-$24 per hour, with potential stipends based on eligibility.
