About the role#
Southwest Airlines is hiring for a Summer 2027 Supply Chain Management Ops Internship. This is a full-time, 12-week program running from May 18 through August 8, 2027. Interns will work on projects within teams such as SCM Ops, Tech Ops SCM, or Enterprise SCM. You will gain exposure to procurement systems, inventory management, strategic sourcing, and data analytics while supporting various corporate and commercial functions.
What you'll do#
- Support the SCM Center of Excellence with business process optimization and implementation.
- Assist with project management tasks, including status tracking and reporting.
- Coordinate data analysis from internal and external databases and create visualizations using Tableau.
- Provide Level 1 support for data and reporting issues and monitor the intake request application.
- Develop safety promotion materials, communication, and training for the pilot group.
- Collaborate with team members and internal customers to test system enhancements.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or Communications.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States and a valid U.S. Social Security Number.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with VLOOKUP, Tableau, cost analysis, root cause analysis, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with AI strategy, writing computer programs, resolving purchase order discrepancies, and documenting process flows.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at the Southwest Airlines headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
- The role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week.
- Compensation is $21-$24 per hour, depending on progress toward your degree.
- Interns receive free, unlimited space-available travel privileges.
