About the role#
The Operations Intern supports daily activities across aviation service operations, including cargo handling, express logistics, passenger services, and ground handling. You will rotate through two assignments to gain exposure to warehouse operations, compliance, and customer service. You will also complete a capstone project that identifies an operational improvement opportunity, which you will present to regional leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day cargo warehouse operations like shipment receipt and processing.
- Assist ground handling teams with aircraft turn operations, ramp safety, and equipment staging.
- Observe and support passenger service workflows.
- Collect and record operational data for productivity and staffing analysis.
- Assist with operational documentation, regulatory requirements, and audit preparation.
- Support supervisors with resource planning and daily shift preparation.
- Conduct safety observations and assist with local compliance initiatives.
- Engage with airline customers, logistics partners, and internal teams.
- Participate in professional development activities, including leadership workshops and mentoring.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an accredited Associate or Bachelor degree program.
- Maintain good academic standing.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2027.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic data analysis skills using Excel, Sheets, or BI tools.
- Demonstrated interest in aviation, logistics, or operational environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Preferred majors include Aviation, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or Engineering.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for up to 8 hours, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in various climates including outdoor ramp conditions.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site in Texas.
- You must reside in or independently secure housing near the internship location, as housing and relocation assistance are not provided.
- You must be comfortable working in active airport and warehouse environments, including exposure to aircraft noise and moving vehicles.
