    About the role#

    The Flight Operations Base Services & Standards Internship offers hands-on experience supporting Southwest Airlines pilot base operations. Interns work with the Base Services Team and Flight Ops Pilot Base Staff to provide essential administrative and operational support. This role involves assisting with daily programs, managing inquiries, and contributing to process improvements that keep operations running smoothly. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support pilot training, standardization, and base-related services.

    What you'll do#

    • Partner with the Base Services Team and Flight Ops Pilot Base Staff to research issues and identify resolutions.
    • Monitor and respond to inquiries via shared inbox, phone, or other contact methods.
    • Provide administrative support for Flight Operations programs, base programs, and base services.
    • Document questions, trends, and process improvement ideas for escalation to team leaders.
    • Support the development of onboarding and training materials or job aids.
    • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and materials for meetings, recurrent training, and other events.
    • Maintain and update tracking tools, databases, and documentation.
    • Review existing process documentation for clarity and accuracy, providing recommendations for updates.

    What you'll need#

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
    • Currently enrolled as a full-time student.
    • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
    • At least 3 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Valid U.S. Social Security Number.
    • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Communications, or a related field.
    • Interest or coursework in Customer Service, administration, coordination, planning, operational support, or aviation.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Dallas, Texas.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (May 18 - August 8, 2027).
    • Work Modality: On-site at the Dallas headquarters.
    • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
    • Compensation: $21-$24 per hour, depending on progress toward degree.
    • Benefits: Includes free, unlimited space-available travel privileges.
