About the role#
The Creative Studio Multimedia Internship supports the Communications Department in visual storytelling and multimedia production. You will assist with photo and video projects while gaining hands-on experience in production workflows and cross-functional collaboration. This is a full-time, 12-week program running from May 18 to August 8, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in all stages of video production, including writing, brainstorming, storyboarding, lighting, audio, videography, editing, and publishing.
- Set up and operate equipment such as teleprompters, cameras, lights, and audio gear.
- Perform grip work and maintain batteries and audiovisual equipment.
- Log and capture archival video into digital systems.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver content that meets brand standards.
- Create and maintain learning materials, including graphics, videos, and job aids.
- Develop content in an agile environment through rapid analysis, prototyping, and iterative reviews.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure milestones and quality standards are met.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- Experience using Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premiere.
- Working knowledge of the Apple Final Cut Suite, including Motion, Compressor, and Color.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to meet deadlines and track hours on projects.
- Preferred skills include Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Audition, Photoshop), experience with DSLR cameras, and knowledge of broadcast laws.
- Background in campus media, broadcast writing, or animation design is a plus.
- Candidates must be prepared to provide samples of multimedia work.
Location & details#
- This internship is based on-site at the Southwest Airlines headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
- You will work 40 hours per week during business hours.
- The pay rate is $21 to $24 per hour, based on progress toward your degree.
- Interns receive free, space-available travel privileges.
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required. No sponsorship is available for this position.
