About the role#
The Wolak Learning Center is looking for student workers to serve as Peer Educators. This role provides academic support to fellow students on the Manchester campus. You will help students improve their knowledge in specific subjects and build confidence as independent learners. This is a part-time position with hours typically ranging from 5 to 10 per week.
What you'll do#
- Provide academic assistance through one-to-one appointments, drop-in support, and class embedded tutoring.
- Support students in areas such as math, science, technology, writing, business, and study skills.
- Adapt tutoring strategies to meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.
- Collaborate with fellow tutors and staff to maintain a respectful learning environment.
- Manage administrative tasks, including checking office communications daily and submitting payroll hours promptly.
- Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a part-time or full-time SNHU student.
- A cumulative SNHU GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Successful completion of the specific courses you intend to tutor.
- Three letters of recommendation, with at least one from a faculty member in your subject area.
- Strong subject matter knowledge and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- A high level of reliability, responsibility, and punctuality.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Manchester, New Hampshire.
- Work is primarily on-site, with occasional virtual sessions.
- This is a paid, part-time role with an hourly pay range of $13.00 to $15.00.
