About the role#
The Admissions Office is looking for student leaders to join the team as Penmen Guides. You will represent the university to prospective students, their families, and other campus visitors. This role focuses on sharing your personal experiences and providing a clear view of life at the university.
What you'll do#
- Lead walking tours for groups of prospective students and their families.
- Share accurate information about academic programs, campus facilities, and student services.
- Tailor your tours to match the specific interests of your group.
- Answer visitor questions in a friendly and knowledgeable way.
- Help Admission Counselors with event preparation for Open Houses and Accepted Student Days.
- Assist with various administrative tasks for office projects.
- Stay current on university policies, events, and program updates by attending training sessions.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while acting as an ambassador for the university.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the university.
- Strong public speaking and verbal communication skills.
- A friendly, approachable attitude when working with diverse groups.
- Punctuality, dependability, and strong time management.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with campus life and university services.
- Federal Work Study eligibility is preferred.
- Prior experience in customer service or public-facing roles is a plus.
- Involvement in campus organizations or leadership roles is helpful.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in Manchester, New Hampshire.
- The role is part-time, typically ranging from 5 to 12 hours per week.
- Pay is $13.00 to $15.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
- The work involves significant walking and standing outdoors in various weather conditions.
