About the role#
This is a full-time co-op position for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. You will work within our team to blend creativity, technology, and sound. This role offers hands-on experience in consumer electronics, allowing you to learn how we transform complex requirements into optimized hardware solutions. You will be part of a cross-functional team and will participate in our 2027 Co-op Program, which includes mentorship, a speaker series, and social activities.
What you'll do#
- Develop mechanical designs using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
- Create components, assemblies, and fixtures to support testing for acoustics, thermal and structural integrity, radio and antenna performance, and industrial design.
- Perform structural and thermal simulations, rapid prototyping, and validation.
- Practice failure analysis, root cause analysis, and iterative design.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to your work.
- Collect and present technical data to various teams.
- Initiate peer reviews of your designs and contribute to a collaborative environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with 3D modeling tools, preferably Siemens NX or PTC OnShape.
- Ability to work independently and communicate technical information clearly.
- A strong interest in how things are designed and manufactured.
- Hands-on experience with machining or fabrication.
- Familiarity with 2D detail drawing, DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis.
- A genuine interest in audio, acoustics, or music production.
- Ability to work in a high-security laboratory environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 days per week on-site.
- Term: January 2027 through June 2027.
- Note: This position does not offer relocation or housing assistance. You must be authorized to work for any US employer as we cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
