About the role#
Solid Power is hiring a Synthesis Slurry Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role works with our Slurry Center of Excellence team to support the research, development, and production of solid-state battery electrolytes. You will gain hands-on experience in electrochemical, physical, and chemical characterization while working alongside our engineers on core projects.
What you'll do#
- Execute planned experiments to optimize synthetic and process routes for sulfide solid-state electrolytes.
- Assist engineers with data acquisition, material characterization, and analysis.
- Communicate your experimental results to the team and participate in planning and brainstorming sessions.
- Maintain your workspace through regular housekeeping.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials and equipment according to safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Chemistry, Materials Science, or related degree program.
- Experience with synthetic or analytic chemistry.
- Familiarity with material characterization techniques such as rheology, DSC/TGA/SDT, XRD, FTIR, and EIS.
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization.
- Comfort working with hazardous materials and equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including respirators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

- Location: Thornton, Colorado.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 15-20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
