About the role#
As a Hardware Product Management Intern, you will work with customers and our hardware and embedded software engineering teams to define and shape Skydio drone platforms, controllers, cameras, and accessories. You will learn the intersection of hardware and software product management, drive key decisions, and ship products that support public safety, national security, and power infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Drive the definition of hardware products and translate these goals into shipped results.
- Engage with customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders to identify and solve business problems.
- Use direct customer experiences, ride-alongs, and usage analytics to inform project execution.
- Develop, own, and publish product requirement documents for vehicle hardware, sensors, and embedded software.
- Partner with designers and engineering teams to execute on self-contained projects.
- Capture and distill feedback from the field to steer product development.
- Collaborate with sales and customer success teams to maintain customer relationships.
- Work with product marketing to develop launch plans, positioning, and messaging.
- Partner with the Go To Market Strategy team to forecast demand and price products.
What you'll need#
- A track record of success in work environments requiring high ownership.
- Clear communication skills for both technical and narrative contexts.
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to process new information rapidly.
- A team-oriented approach and a willingness to handle any task.
- Strong spatial and mechanical reasoning ability.
- A willingness to work in the field.
- A sense for risk management and the ability to form opinions with incomplete information.
- Strong business acumen to approach problems from both top-down business and bottom-up technical perspectives.
- Ability to obtain FAA Part 107 certification within your first 60 days.
- Backgrounds in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration are preferred.
- Experience with aviation, drones, IOT, networked devices, or enterprise robotics is a plus.
- Familiarity with Law Enforcement, National Security, or Electrical Utilities sectors is a plus.
- Direct or indirect engineering experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The position is based on-site 5 days per week at our headquarters in San Mateo, California.
- The internship terms are available for Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
