About the role#
Skender is looking for a Safety Intern to join the Safety, Production, and Quality (SPQ) team for the Summer 2027 term. This position provides hands-on experience in both field and office settings. You will learn how safety management processes support project delivery and gain insight into a career path within construction safety.
What you'll do#
- Assist the SPQ team with weekly jobsite safety inspections.
- Attend job start up meetings and observe project safety planning.
- Support safety documentation, training, and administrative tasks.
- Assist with corporate safety initiatives.
- Gain firsthand exposure to construction operations and the role safety plays in project success.
- Build your safety knowledge through training and professional development.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a 4-year degree in Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of technical training and construction experience are also considered.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and an interest in identifying potential safety concerns.
- Ability to stay organized and maintain accurate documentation.
- Willingness to ask questions, learn from others, and take initiative.
- Interest in construction safety, risk prevention, and jobsite operations.
- Ability to work in both field and office environments.
- Basic knowledge of construction practices or safety principles is preferred.
