About the role#
Skender is looking for an Engineering Intern to join the Operations team during the Summer of 2027. This role is based in Indianapolis and focuses on the project management career path within the construction industry. You will work under the direction of a Project Manager to assist with department administration and project documentation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the administration, documentation, and organization of the Operations Department.
- Review efficient construction techniques with the Superintendent and monitor their implementation on-site.
- Manage project schedules and change orders.
- Review contract documents to identify submittal requirements.
- Attend weekly progress meetings.
- Focus on personal development to improve leadership and management skills.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year degree program in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or Architecture, or equivalent technical training and construction experience.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with project stakeholders.
- Aptitude for managing project documentation.
- Understanding of construction-related contract language.
- Ability to use project management and scheduling software.
- Fundamental knowledge of building systems and conceptual budgets.
- Basic understanding of the bidding process.
- Interest in Lean production management principles.
