About the role#
SimVentions is hiring an Engineering Intern for our Systems and Test team for Summer 2027. This is a paid, full-time, 11-week program based on-site in Fredericksburg, Virginia. You will work alongside experienced professionals on real-world engineering, software, and cybersecurity projects. This role focuses on the development lifecycle, providing you with hands-on experience in technical problem-solving and system evaluation.
What you'll do#
- Support systems engineering and test activities, including requirements analysis, system integration, test planning, and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate system performance, identify issues, and support verification and validation.
- Participate in hands-on development, testing, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Assist with the creation, implementation, and validation of engineering models, simulations, or software applications.
- Contribute to the documentation of technical processes and findings.
- Participate in team meetings, provide updates, and receive mentorship from senior engineers and project managers.
- Conduct research and assist with the development of solutions to technical challenges.
- Engage in learning and networking activities, training sessions, and workshops.
What you'll need#
- Completed freshman year of college by the start of the internship (must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior).
- Enrollment in a relevant degree program such as systems engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, or computer science.
- Proficiency in basic programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, eager-to-learn attitude and a commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience or coursework in systems engineering, software development, or cybersecurity is a plus.
- Eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
