About the role#
The Fall 2026 Mechanical Engineering Internship at Sierra Space offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work on spacecraft and aerospace systems. This program runs from September through December 2026. You will work on-site in Centennial, Colorado, collaborating with industry experts on real-world engineering challenges. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Help design and test mechanical components used in spacecraft and aerospace systems.
- Develop CAD models and analyze mechanical performance.
- Support hardware testing using tools such as MATLAB.
- Contribute to product development activities, including prototyping, thermal analysis, stress calculations, and material selection.
- Document engineering results to track project progress.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
- An expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-initiative.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
