About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position at Shoppers Drug Mart provides practical experience for future pharmacists within a community pharmacy setting. You will work in a retail environment designed to enhance your academic experience and prepare you for a successful career in pharmacy practice.
What you'll do#
- Acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy area.
- Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
- Maintain clear visibility to the public while on duty.
- Develop skills in drug therapy, disease state management, and patient counseling.
- Learn the operational requirements necessary to manage a retail pharmacy.
- Enhance communication skills through interactions with patients, staff, and other healthcare workers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a program related to Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, or Health Administration.
- Strong communication skills for patient interactions.
- Knowledge of over-the-counter (OTC) products.
- Ability to manage tasks within a retail pharmacy environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
