About the role#
As an Industrial Design Co-op, you will join our cross-disciplinary design team to work on the full product development cycle. You will gain hands-on experience ranging from early-stage research and concept development to final CAD and prototyping. You will work alongside Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams to help define the visual and tactile identity of Shark and Ninja products.
What you'll do#
- Support Industrial Design and CMF leads on real product launches.
- Translate consumer insights into user-centered design solutions.
- Bring ideas to life through sketches, illustrations, and high-fidelity renderings.
- Create presentation-ready visuals and storytelling assets.
- Build visual and functional prototypes.
- Collaborate with Engineering to deliver production-ready CAD files.
- Specify the look and feel of products, including finishes, color, material, texture, and branding.
- Contribute to a multi-disciplinary team.
- Explore emerging trends, new materials, and future-forward aesthetics.
- Elevate the Shark and Ninja brands.
- Participate in the full product development cycle.
What you'll need#
- Current student in a related bachelor's or master’s program, or a graduate within the past year.
- Ability to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or Rhino for product design.
- Ability to visualize ideas through high-quality 3D renderings in Keyshot.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering and part design.
- Ability to combine analytical thinking with creative energy.
- An original portfolio of creative work demonstrating the product development process.
- A collaborative and positive approach to brainstorming, critique, and prototyping.
- A curious and forward-thinking mindset.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through June).
- Work Modality: On-site, 5 days per week.
- Compensation: $30/hr - $36/hr (set based on educational level at hire).
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
