Marketing Communications Fellow

About the role#

The Marketing Communications Fellow will work with the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority to support integrated marketing, communications, service planning, and customer experience strategies. This full-time, 10-month fellowship offers hands-on experience in the transportation sector, focusing on sustainability and climate change initiatives. Fellows will work alongside marketing, operations, and administrative teams to promote intercity passenger rail service.

What you'll do#

• Provide graphic design support by creating digital and print marketing materials.
• Develop content for news articles, blogs, and newsletters, including service updates and promotional offers.
• Conduct onboard and station site visits to assess customer experience and gather feedback.
• Collaborate on sustainability-focused initiatives, such as projects aimed at reducing the organization's carbon footprint.
• Support operations in implementing rail safety initiatives in collaboration with regional partners.
• Update the digital media library and provide partnership activation support.

What you'll need#

• Strong communication skills.
• An interest in transportation, marketing, and communications.
• Ability to work on-site on a full-time basis.
• Commitment to a fair workplace that honors diverse experiences and values.
• Preferred background in Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design.
• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms is a plus.
• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.

• Location: Oakland, California.
• Modality: On-site (5 days per week).
• Term: Fall 2026 (starting September 1st, 2026).
• Compensation: Paid fellowship.
