Climate Program Implementation Fellow

About the role#

The Climate Program Implementation Fellow will support the Bay Area Air District in implementing the Bay Area Regional Climate Action Plan (BARCAP). This 10-month, full-time fellowship offers the opportunity to work alongside senior staff to advance regional climate, air quality, and equity goals. Fellows will gain direct experience in public agency operations, project management, and regional governance.

What you'll do#

• Contribute to the development of a report for the USEPA regarding implementation progress, including data compilation and drafting.
• Assist in the planning and execution of the inaugural Annual Implementers Workshop.
• Develop data visualizations and narrative materials to communicate climate action progress.
• Identify and implement practical actions to support equitable urban greening projects.
• Evaluate non-regulatory approaches to addressing emissions from backup power at data centers and other large commercial facilities.

What you'll need#

• Background or coursework in environmental policy, urban planning, climate science, public health, or a related field.
• Strong research and data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Term: Fall 2026 (10-month duration).
• Modality: Hybrid (requires 2 days per week on-site).
