Climate Fellow

About the role#

The Climate Fellow position is a 10-month, full-time fellowship starting September 1st, 2026. This role supports the City of Mountain View’s Sustainability and Resiliency Division in advancing decarbonization and climate resiliency programs. The position is hybrid, with a requirement to be on-site on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occasionally includes evening or weekend work.

What you'll do#

• Support building electrification initiatives and outreach efforts to promote the adoption of electric appliances.
• Assist with the development and implementation of the Multifamily EV Charger Rebate program.
• Coordinate with City divisions to support the transition to electric landscaping equipment.
• Contribute to the City’s Five-Year Decarbonization Plan through policy research and strategy development.
• Assist with grant funding efforts for municipal decarbonization and infrastructure projects.
• Support climate data analysis and reporting, including tracking greenhouse gas performance.
• Lead or support community engagement initiatives, such as Earth Day and Arbor Day planning.

What you'll need#

• Familiarity with climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainability concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic experience with data analysis, research, or reporting.
• Ability to create simple outreach or communications materials.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
• Academic background in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Sociology, Urban Planning, Political Science, Business Administration, Communications, or Biology is preferred.
