Intern, Project Engineering

About the role#

The Project Engineering Intern supports a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of engineering work for the Joint Support Ships project. This role spans the entire project lifecycle, from design and planning through to construction and final acceptance, ensuring engineering deliverables meet cost and schedule requirements. You will work within a heavy industrial environment to mitigate risks and drive the closure of technical issues.

What you'll do#

• Apply project management principles to pre-production and production support activities.
• Develop tools and processes to solve complex technical problems.
• Identify process inefficiencies and collaborate with supervisors on potential solutions.
• Ensure engineering maturity targets are established and agreed upon with key stakeholders.
• Drive the timely resolution of technical issues to maintain project momentum.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a 2nd or 3rd year degree program in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Integrated Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Systems Engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
• Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Interest in applying engineering concepts within a production environment and a passion for shipbuilding.
• Comfort working in a heavy industrial setting.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Location & details#

• Location: North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
• Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026 – December 18, 2026).
• Modality: Full-time, on-site.
• Compensation: Paid position at $28.00 per hour.
• Requirements: This position requires a security clearance through the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
