The Innovation Intern will contribute to the development and application of technologies such as digital twins, green solutions, and autonomous systems. Working alongside technical experts and business leaders, you will support projects focused on robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing to enhance shipbuilding and refit operations. This role provides hands-on experience in research, testing, and technology demonstration.
What you'll do#
- Support technical and non-technical work with internal stakeholders, providing day-to-day assistance to managers and engineers.
- Take full ownership of the development and demonstration of selected technologies and applications.
- Perform research, coding, testing, and evaluations of project technologies.
- Coordinate and manage the procurement of innovation technology assets.
- Capture and communicate project progress, solutions, and outcomes through demonstrations, reports, and presentations.
- Facilitate meetings and updates with team members and senior staff.
- Engage with cross-functional departments to manage project vision and progress.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 3rd or 4th year Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering or science degree program.
- Curiosity about marine and vessel applications for advanced manufacturing, including robotics, autonomous systems, and Industry 4.0.
- Experience conducting technical investigations with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge through industry experience, class projects, or previous co-op terms.
Location & details#
- Location: North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026).
- Work Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $28.00/hour.
- Note: This position requires security clearance through the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
